Granger Reis hosts Construction 2025 event

Construction 2025 is the Government’s strategy for how government and industry should work together to promote the ongoing success of the UK construction sector. One of the key strands of the strategy is People, setting an ambition to create ‘an industry that is known for its talented and diverse workforce.’

Granger Reis is highly involved in this strand. We are working closely with Peter Hansford, the Government’s Chief Construction Adviser, towards the goals of reinvigorating the image of the industry and increasing capability in the workforce. Ben Hewlett, Director of our Transportation and Infrastructure practice, is particularly involved in the programme.

To support it, we organised and, in partnership with Construction 2025, hosted a London breakfast seminar in March at the ICE, which aimed to generate ideas and solutions on how the industry could best address the people challenge. The seminar was attended by senior management and directors from industry leading construction and engineering consultancies, contractors and developers.

It proved a huge success, and generated a number of ideas. One key outcome agreed by all was that as well as inviting senior leaders, the industry needed to engage the next generation too. To that end, we are currently planning a similar event for the junior management and ‘rising stars’ of the attending organisations. This is likely to take place early in 2015.
