Granger Reis raises £10,000 for PROPS

With our heritage in Bristol, in 2014, the Granger Reis team decided that we wanted our charity efforts to benefit a local organisation. After careful consideration, we chose a charity that we all felt passionate about, PROPS (Providing Opportunities and Support).

PROPS is a Bristol-based charity that works with young adults with learning and physical disabilities. It helps bridge the gap when they leave school, giving these young people access to a wide range of training, education and work-related programmes.

With no government funding, much of their fantastic work is reliant on fundraising and donations, and we felt that as a team – and with the support of our clients – we would be able to help raise vital funds for them.

Over the course of the last year, we have been involved in numerous fundraising activities for PROPS, including two major events.

In July, Tim Gear-Evans (Commercial Director), Josh Irving (Director of Research) and Andrew Kingston (Consultant – Energy & Industrial practice) took part in the annual “Pedal for PROPS” bike ride from Bristol to Bordeaux. This is a four day cycle ride covering a total of 800 kilometres. Put another way, it’s the equivalent of completing four consecutive stages of the Tour de France! The team did us proud and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, though there were some tired legs afterwards.

There were even more weary souls after June’s TrekFest. This is claimed to be one of the toughest charity treks in the UK and is supposed to involve covering some 29miles in 12 hours. Unfortunately for the thirteen-strong Granger Reis team, it turned out to be 32 miles...

Nonetheless, all returned more or less in one piece… and collectively raised a fantastic amount of money.

In total, we were able to donate some £10,185.81 to PROPS. We’d like to extend a big thank you to our clients, friends and families who sponsored us. We are delighted to have been able to help PROPS to continue their much needed work, and look forward to raising even more next year: plans for activities are already underway!
