Granger Reis is delighted to have completed our first STEM Ambassador volunteer experience.

Earlier in the year, a number of Granger Reis employees became STEM Ambassadors, with the aim of going into schools to showcase the exciting careers within Engineering and Construction, and assisting students with CV writing and interview skills.

In early June, Laura Reeve (Transportation & Infrastructure Practice) and myself (Head of PR & Communications), spent the afternoon at Backwell secondary school, working with year 10 students during their careers day. The afternoon was focused on how to write a CV, how to prepare for and approach an interview, and the hugely important do’s and don’ts. We tried to bring it life, and make it as interactive as possible, with plenty of role plays, examples, and film clips.

It was a fantastic experience, and as individuals who are very familiar with interviewing, it was great to pass on some of our expertise in the form of advice and tips to the future generation.

As STEM Ambassadors, we are looking forward to arranging further events with schools across Bristol and Somerset, not only assisting in CV writing and interviewing, but equally talking to students about the breadth and depth of roles and opportunity across engineering and construction industries.
